Piaget reduces its environmental impact

Our search for excellence through expertise of luxury goods goes hand in hand with respect for the highest ethical and environmental requirements. Piaget is involved in projects to reduce its ecological footprint, taking concrete measures to reduce its CO2 emissions. These measures are being taken throughout our company buildings, concerning business trips, in the paper goods we use, and in the use of only environmentally-friendly products (gift boxes, shopping bags, User Guides, gift wrap, etc.).

 

Recycling obsolete communications material

Piaget recycles since 2011 its obsolete communications equipment. In March 2016, among the 5.14t, 84% were reused and recycled. The rest was incinerated and the heat used. The weight of this obsolete material decreased by 49% (10t in 2015) thanks to a close monitoring of internal orders.

All products have been unpacked, sorted and weighted for 3 days by 2 employees in rehabilitation supervised by a specialized educator and a team leader.

Compensation for CO2 Emissions

 

Piaget has been monitoring several environmental indicators for many years which enable the calculation of its CO2 footprint worldwide, and compensates it by funding environmental projects in developing countries aiming to protect the environment and help reach the Millennium Development Goals (MDG): energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, improved furnaces and drinking water procurement.

As for 2015, Piaget funds were allocated to a windfarm in China, a small hydroelectric plant in Uganda and rainforest conservation in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Water and Solar Panels

An array of solar panels has been installed on the roof of our factory in Plan-les-Ouates / Geneva. Our goal is to use green energy to heat the water used in the restrooms on the Geneva site. The energy accumulated by the solar panels heats water to 60° Celsius. An effort to reduce water consumption was put in place at the Piaget headquarters.

Green Electricity

Piaget Manufactures purchase green electricity from renewable hydroelectricity sources.

FSC Paper

Piaget uses only FSC-certified paper for printed documents.
