Ellerstina Piaget advances to Tortugas Final

After trailing 0-4 in the second chukker, Ellerstina Piaget battled back to defeat Alegria 16-11 to secure their seventh consecutive spot in the final of the Tortugas Open, the first tournament of the Triple Crown in Argentina.

A stronger start by Fred Mannix's foursome led Alegria to a 4-0 lead by the end of the second chukker, commanded by the much inspired Hilario Ulloa. Ellerstina Piaget remained behind until they scored four consecutive goals in the third chukker to even the match.

Alegria reclaimed the lead late in the third chukker (5-4), but Ellerstina Piaget rallied swiftly to tie the match. In the fourth chukker, the black shirts made a strong offensive for a 9-6 lead, taking control of the game with their speed and gallant horses.

Led by Facundo Pieres, who scored nine of the goals, seven of which included penalty shots, Ellerstina Piaget maintained their advantage, ultimately leading to the 16-11 win and the first spot in the Tortugas Open Final match.

La Dolfina and La Natividad will play the second semifinal match on Sunday October 12. The winner will play Ellerstina Piaget in the Finals, a potential repeat of the Dolfina-Ellerstina rivalry; or perhaps a new contender with La Natividad.

Score Ellerstina: 0-3, 0-4, 5-5. 9-6, 10-7, 12-9, 16-11
