The 1208P movement, is a direct descendant of the famous 12P movement, and is one of the thinnest self-winding mechanical movements on the market. Achieving this 2.35 mm thinness required all of Piaget's expertise in ultra-thin movements and refined components. For example, some of the gears in the 1208P movement measure no more than 0.12 mm and are hardly thicker than a human hair. The space between the wheels has been reduced to its minimum of only 0.1 mm. The movement is fitted with a balance stop. In order to make the best use of space, the rose-gold micro-rotor decorated with the Piaget coat-of-arms, is off-centre and positioned at 9 o'clock. The movement is fitted with a small seconds which is also off-centre and located at 5 o'clock on the dial. As part of the watchmaker Piaget's constant effort to differentiate its models, it has decorated the 1208P movement wheels with a sunburst motif and a dedicated index assembly carries the stylised "P" of Piaget like a secret signature. Circular Côtes de Genève, a circular-grained mainplate, bevelled bridges and blued screws add the finishing touches to this movement, and are reminders of the Swiss watchmaking brand's high aesthetic values.
