The Golden Horse Awards Moment of Glory
Playing in the light and shadow of the stars
As the main sponsor of the Golden Horse awards for six years running, premium Swiss watchmaker and luxury jewellery brand Piaget works with the Golden Horse Executive Committee each year to conceive and shoot a series of images called the Golden Horse Awards Moment of Glory, which are hotly anticipated by both shortlisted artists and movie fans alike. This year, the profile photos of the nominated directors, actors and actresses play with the theme of light and shadow. The images reflect what makes these stars so special and record what is a real moment of triumph for these outstanding individuals nominated for the Golden Horse Awards.
Piaget works with the Golden Horse Awards to give nominees a moment to remember
Piaget has now worked with the Golden Horse Executive Committee to create the Golden Horse Awards Moment of Glory images of the nominated movie royalty for six years running. The project brings together the biggest stars and leaves behind a record of the brilliance of each year’s awards. In contrast to the focus on close-ups and documentary-style images of previous years, this year, the lens captured shadows, silhouettes and shapes in an interplay of light and shadow that highlighted the stars’ distinctive personalities. With the nominees bathed in dark, light, overlapping and changing rays, the photos reveal the stars’ passion and perseverance, creating a unique and valuable memento of the glory of the Golden Horse awards.
After being held for so many years, the photoshoot is now eagerly anticipated by moviemakers. This year, the nominees were photographed over consecutive days in Taipei, Shanghai and Beijing. The images were once again taken by the Secret 9 photography team alongside stylist Liu Daqiang, both of whom have developed a wonderful rapport with Golden Horse and Piaget that allows them to better capture moments of genuine emotion in the stars. As the main sponsor of the Golden Horse Awards, Piaget dressed the stars in resplendent jewellery and watches to set off these bright lights’ personalities and add a little extra allure.
Taking the reins with the Golden Horse statuettes
In addition to the Golden Horse Awards Moment of Glory images, the Executive Committee also arranges for the nominees for best director, leading actor, and leading actress to take photos with the Golden Horse statuette. Facing the photographer’s lens, the stars let loose their joy at their nomination, the smiles and laughter revealing their enthusiasm for the upcoming ceremony. This year, a special Golden Horse Awards Moment of Glory photography exhibition will also be held, with photographed nominees Roy Chiu and Meihuizi Zeng invited to the opening. The exhibition will be shown from November 13 to November 23 on the ground floor of the Taipei 101 Shopping Centre. Movie fans will not only be able to see the photos of the stars, but will also have the chance to get their hands on exclusive, limited edition Gold Horse Awards Moment of Glory postcards.
The 55th Golden Horse Awards Ceremony will be held on November 17 at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei. A celebration of Chinese-language film, the event will provide yet more unforgettable moments for an art form that both the nominees and Piaget work so hard to promote.
